Being a native of Upper Franconia, her first desire was to manage an orchid plantation in South Africa. But she had to abandon this intention due to the then political situation. However, because she cared about people as she did about orchids, she soon came with her wish to carry out a revolution in the world of labour in her pioneering way. With this goal in mind, she established Hofmann Personal in 1985.
Company with a character
Honorary consul, entrepreneur of the year, holder of the Federal Order of Merit: The work of Ingrid Hofmann did not remain unnoticed. It did not, however, only concern her managing abilities but also the human values which make Ingrid Hofmann an extraordinary businesswoman.
From zero to one of the leading recruitment companies
The company grew quickly to become one of the largest recruitment companies in Germany and Austria. The birth of her daughter four years later kindled in Ingrid Hofmann a desire to better combine the world of labour with that of family – at the time when the term “Work-Life-Balance”, meaning the balance of one’s working and private lives, has not been born yet. Thanks to it, Hofmann Personal can take pride in its creative models of working hours to the present day.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Ingrid Hofmann quickly realized the potential still unawakened behind the former Iron Curtain and expanded to the East of Germany. In addition to her work, Ingrid Hofmann is also engaged in the world of labour. Among other activities, she works for the Association of Personnel Service Providers – Recruitment Agencies (BAP) and for the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA). Since 2010, she has been a member of the board of the Federal Employment Agency appointed by the then Minister of Labour Ursula v. d. Leyen. She also is a member of the supervisory board of LEONI AG in Nuremberg.
This work brought Ingrid Hofmann a number of awards. In 2001, she received the Vogue Business Award and, in the next year, she was awarded the “Entrepreneur of the Year 2002”. An important award was the bestowing of the state medal for outstanding contribution to Bavarian economy in 2006. In 2007, it was followed by the conferring of the Federal Order of Merit by the former President of the Federal Republic of Germany Horst Köhler. The Financial Times ranks Ingrid Hofmann among the best three businesswomen of Germany. She is a member of the Advisory Board of Deutsche Bank (Bavaria) and of Bayerische Landesbank. She is also engaged as an honorary commercial judge and an honorary consul of the Kingdom of Denmark.
But in spite of all the degrees and awards mentioned above, Ingrid Hofmann has remained a woman who takes care of the common wellbeing. Through I. K. Hofmann Stiftung, she supports various charity organizations. Put simply, her heart is not occupied by orchids only.
Owing to its focusing on customers and high-quality services, Hofmann Personal Recruitment Agency has won a great number of loyal customers, establishing thus a partnership of employers and employees with Hofmann Personal being a link between them.
